(MENAFN) Since March 2021, China’s National People’s Congress (NPC) and its standing committee have enacted 35 laws, approved 62 legislative amendments, and passed 34 binding resolutions, according to reports.

The update was provided by Song Rui, deputy secretary general of the NPC Standing Committee, during a press briefing on Monday, which highlighted progress in promoting socialist democracy throughout the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021–2025).

Song emphasized that these legislative initiatives have strengthened China’s legal framework, aiming to enhance state governance, respond to public demands for improved living standards, and bolster national security protections.

He also noted that since March 2021, 127 draft laws have been released for public consultation, receiving over 1.19 million comments from more than 400,000 individuals.
