EU funding for safer walking and cycling routes between Kranj, Hrastje and Šenčur

SLOVENIA, August 12 - The project will provide a safe and direct connection for pedestrians and cyclists between the neighbourhood Planina, business zone Hrastje and the municipality of Šenčur.

As part of the project, a new overpass will be constructed across the regional road at Hrastje. The overpass will accommodate both cyclists and pedestrians, linking existing walking and cycling routes and closing a missing section of the route. The new infrastructure will enable safe and convenient daily travel on foot and by bicycle. It will particularly benefit the residents of the Planina neighbourhood, employees working in the business zone Hrastje and residents of the municipalities of Kranj and Šenčur. Additionally, it will encourage greater use of active modes of transport, while contributing to enhanced road safety and environmental sustainability in the region.

The €3,340,693.54 project will receive €1,336,277.42 from the European Regional Development Fund. The beneficiary of the funding is the Urban Municipality of Kranj.
